GTA 6 Character Customization: What's Confirmed
Yes — GTA 6 has deep character customization, and Rockstar has now confirmed a lot of it directly. On June 24, 2026, alongside pre-orders opening, Rockstar released more than 60 official screenshots (over 50 on the official media page) showing Jason and Lucia in dozens of outfits, hairstyles, and tattoo setups, plus the in-game shops where you'll change them. Here's what's actually confirmed about GTA 6 character customization versus what's still being pieced together from trailers.
What's confirmed
These details come straight from Rockstar's own June 2026 screenshots and store listings, so we label them CONFIRMED:
- Clothing and outfits. Both Jason and Lucia can change their clothes, with looks ranging from casual streetwear to more tailored fits. Official screenshots show them in a wide variety of outfits.
- Hair and grooming. You can change hairstyles for both characters. Rockstar's images also show Jason's facial hair and Lucia's makeup and nails as things you can alter.
- Tattoos. Both protagonists can get tattoos. Screenshots show ink across the body, and Rockstar has pictured a dedicated tattoo parlor, Electric Fang Tattoo Shop.
- In-game shops. Customization happens at real locations in the world — Rockstar has shown businesses like Sara's Unisex Salon (for hair) and clothing stores where you'll shop for fits.
- Vehicle and weapon customization. Beyond your character, Rockstar confirmed vehicle mod shops (rims, paint jobs, custom interiors) and weapon customization (skins and attachments like scopes and suppressors).
If you want the wider picture on the two leads themselves, we cover it in GTA 6 Jason and Lucia: everything confirmed.
What's reported
Some popular details come from fans and press counting frames in the trailers rather than from Rockstar directly. Useful, but we label these REPORTED:
- Outfit counts. Coverage of Trailer 2 counted roughly 29 outfit combinations for Jason and around 26 for Lucia. That's press analysis of trailer footage, not an official figure — the real total in the finished game is unknown.
- Tattoo placement specifics. Descriptions of tattoos for "arms, legs, and back" come from press write-ups of the screenshots. The general ability to tattoo is confirmed; the exact menu of placements is not yet officially detailed.
What it means for you
If you're a returning fan who spent hours in GTA 5 and GTA Online dressing up your character, the short version is: that returns, and it looks broader than before.
- You customize two leads, not one. Because Jason and Lucia are both playable, customization applies to a duo. Expect to manage two distinct wardrobes and looks.
- Some options are edition-locked. The pre-order Vintage Vice City Pack includes throwback outfits and hairstyles, a matching vehicle and garage, and a Tommy Vercetti-style gun skin. The Ultimate Edition adds exclusive stores like the Stock 305 Clothing Store plus extra vehicle and weapon options. What's tied to which edition is worth checking before you buy — see what's locked in the Ultimate Edition.
- Deeper systems are still unconfirmed. Rockstar hasn't detailed things like body-shape sliders, whether clothing has any stat effects, or how tattoos are priced in-game. Treat anything beyond the confirmed list above as unconfirmed for now.
What would change this answer
We'll update this page when:
- Rockstar releases a dedicated gameplay deep-dive or the third trailer, which usually reveals more mechanics.
- Official store or feature pages detail the full customization menus.
- The finished game confirms the complete list of options after launch.
We log every one of these claims on our Scorecard, so you can always see what Rockstar has actually shown versus what's still trailer-reading and speculation.
