Does GTA 6 Have Multiplayer at Launch? What Rockstar Says
Short answer: GTA 6 launches as a single-player game on November 19, 2026. That comes from Rockstar's own pre-order FAQ — not a leak, not a theory.
What Rockstar has actually said
Rockstar's official FAQ describes Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience featuring Jason and Lucia's story. That's the confirmed part.
What Rockstar has not announced is any online mode shipping with the game on day one. There is no confirmed "GTA 6 Online" at launch.
So what happens to GTA Online?
Nothing, for now. The current GTA Online (attached to GTA 5) continues to run. Reporting suggests a next-generation online experience may be released or sold separately after launch — but Rockstar has not confirmed timing, pricing, or details.
Label check: GTA 6 being single-player at launch = confirmed (Rockstar FAQ). A separate online release later = reported, not confirmed.
Why so many videos get this wrong
"GTA 6 Online" thumbnails get clicks, so plenty of coverage blurs the line between the current GTA Online, the 2022 leak material, and actual announcements. If a video tells you how GTA 6's multiplayer works, it is guessing — Rockstar has barely said a word.
What would change this answer
A Rockstar Newswire post announcing an online component — that's it. When that happens, this page will be updated the same day, and the change will be logged on our Scorecard.
